It appears the Grizzlies have found their backup PG for Ja Morant going forward. After a sign trade that sent Delon Wright to the Mavericks over the weekend, the Grizz moved quickly to sign 5th year restricted free agent G Tyus Jones to a 3 year, $28M deal. The veteran PG averaged 6.9pts & 4.8ast in 68 games with the Timberwolves last season.

The former Duke star joins Morant and newest aquisition De'Anthony Melton (Suns trade) as the 3rd true point guard on the roster as of right now.

The deal became official Tuesday night when the Timberwolves declined to match the offer sheet for Jones:

Among reasons for not matching on Jones: Minnesota is pursuing max cap space in 2020 free agency. Without space this summer, Wolves were a finalist for D’Angelo Russell. They’ll work to get back into market with real flexibility next year. https://t.co/5bh2fSn5Sz
