DALLAS (105.3 The Fan) - The losing ways of the Dallas Cowboys continued on Thanksgiving Day, as they fell to the Washington Football Team 00-00 in Arlington, sending the team to 3-8 on the season.
From the beginning of the day, it was clear it would not be the Cowboys day, when All-Pro offensive lineman Zack Martin and reserve right tackle Cameron Flemming were both lost for the game in the first quarter due to injury.
From there, the Cowboys were able to make a game of it, in the first half at least. By the time the fourth quarter was underway, however, the Washington Football Team was firmly in control, scoring 21 points in the final 15 minutes, and taking an insurmountable lead.
Even before the final gun sounded, Washington had already established their dominance in the game, using a punishing rushing attack, and a dominant pass rush, to take control of the game.
Washington running back Antonio Gibson led the way for the Football Team, carrying the ball 20 times for 115 yards and three touchdowns, becoming the first rookie to score three touchdowns on Thanksgiving since Randy Moss did it for the Minnesota Vikings.
On the other end, the Washington defense was dominant, holding the Cowboys offense to just 247 yards of total offense, including just 32 yards rushing on 10 attempts for Dallas star running back Ezekiel Elliott.
Andy Dalton also struggled throughout the game, throwing for 215 yards, with one touchdown and one interception on 35 attempts.
Dallas will now be sent back to the drawing board heading in to their week 13 matchup against the Baltimore Ravens, with Washington now on top of the division, and the Cowboys season now all but over.
The Ravens and the Cowboys will kick off from M&T Bank Stadium next Thursday night at 7:20 pm on FOX.
