49ers to play Week 13 and 14 at Cardinals' State Farm Stadium

UPDATE: The 49ers are officially headed to Arizona.

Here's the club's Monday morning press release, in the wake of Santa Clara County jettisoning the 49ers from Levi's Stadium due to new COVID-19 restrictions.

“The San Francisco 49ers have come to an agreement with the National Football League and Arizona Cardinals which allows the 49ers to host their Weeks 13 and 14 home games against the Buffalo Bills and Washington Football Team at State Farm Stadium in Arizona.

Here's how the news initially leaked on Sunday...

It appears as if the San Francisco 49ers may have a new home for the rest of the season.

Due to updated COVID-19 restrictions in Santa Clara County, which banned all contact sports and mandated a 14-day quarantine for anyone traveling from 150 miles away, the Niners are left looking for a place to play their home games during the final month of the season.

According to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport, Arizona remains the most likely option.

The two teams, w do not have a home game on the same day, and the NFC West rivals are reportedly willing to accommodate the Niners.

Nothing is yet set in stone, with officials from the team and NFL still working on a plan. Another option would be for the Niners to play at a stadium in Texas.

There is also the question of what the 49ers would be able to do for practice. They could stay in a hotel in Arizona for a month and practice there in what would be a pseudo bubble, or they could practice outside the 150-mile zone in California, which would allow players to remain with family, and travel to Arizona for home games.

The Niners are playing the Rams in Los Angeles on Sunday. A decision is expected soon.
