The Braves inked Hamels to a one-year deal, $18 million deal in the offseason.

The veteran left-hander will not be ready in time for Opening Day per Braves GM Alex Anthopoulos.

Cole Hamels will not have time to be ready for opening-day roster, #Braves GM Alex Anthopoulos said. Hamels told them it's nothing serious. But missing 3 weeks at least, he won't have enough time to build up and be ready by opening day.
