5-Stripes' Path to Advance Tough, Not Bleak

Atlanta United's path to advancing in the MLS Is Back Tournament is "a little less bleak" today than it was Thursday after the 5-Stripes suffered their second consecutive loss in pool play, according to play-by-play voice Mike Conti.

A second yellow card to Jake Mulraney forced him off the pitch, and the team to play a man down in the FC Cincinnati match. That 1-0 loss, combined with their 1-0 loss to the New York Red Bulls on Saturday, makes it extremely difficult for Atlanta United to think about games after Tuesday.

Difficult, but not impossible. Two things must happen, Conti says.
  1. Atlanta United must win on Tuesday over Columbus.
  2. FC Cincinnati and the NYRB must not draw.

Even if the 5-Stripes get these two things, they need help.

Help from other groups?A draw between MIA and NYC on Monday would be huge.Other groups will be more clear this weekend.
