One of MLB's brightest young stars seems to have suffered a significant injury on Monday night.

Mike Soroka, who began the 2020 MLB season with two winless starts despite a dazzling 1.59 ERA, landed awkwardly on his right leg after jolting off the mound to cover first base against the Mets.

A closer look, which we haven't pinned here but can be watched through this link, reveals a pretty gruesome view of the injury.

Soroka was expected to be a candidate for the NL Cy Young at some point soon, if not in 2020. In fact, tonight's matchup was a potential face-off between front-runners, as Soroka went toe-to-toe with the Mets' Jacob deGrom.

His teammates were clearly upset with the unfortunate injury.
