Braves getting 'postseason performer, a stud' in Charlie Morton

Braves beat writer Dave O’Brien joined the show to talk about the signing of Charlie Morton, why he liked the Drew Smyly signing, plus what does this mean for the future of Marcell Ozuna?

O’Brien told the guys what the Braves are getting in Charlie Morton for the 2021 season.

“Charlie Morton has been a stud the last couple of years," said O'Brien. "I don’t think you can judge anything off of this year. He had a little bit of a sluggish start after the shutdown just like a lot of hitters and a lot of other pitchers struggled. By the end of the year his stuff was the same that it was in 2019, and in the postseason he looked great. He got lit up by the Dodgers in his last game, but the three before that, I mean he won Game 7 in the ALCS.

“They’re getting a guy who is postseason performer, a stud. They really don’t have a guy like that. This isn’t Cole Hamels, who they we're signing after an injury, Cole was hurt twice that year before he came here, Charlie in 2019 had 240 strikeouts.”
