It's a shame the Falcons played a home game today. I would much rather have had the Falcons playing on the west coast, because it would mean a longer walk home for the head coach.
Dan Quinn needs to go.
The Falcons gave up 20 unanswered points in the fourth quarter to allow the Bears to take a four-point lead with 1:53 left to play. Chicago moved to 3-0, Atlanta to 0-3. It was the second week in a row the Falcons have blown huge leads late in the game.
When "The Nick Kayal Show" started three weeks ago, on a Saturday, my opening monologue was on how Dan Quinn's 6-2 finish to the 2019 season was fool's gold. Thomas DiMitroff and Arthur Blank were duped into believing he was deserving of another season and that he had righted the ship. He didn't. He hasn't.
I witnessed this exact same scenario in Philadelphia when I was the evening host on 97.5 The Fanatic.
Andy Reid entered 2011 with "dream team" expectations. Michael Vick was his quarterback. High caliber free-agents were brought in during the offseason. Sky's the limit. Wrong. The Eagles were a complete disaster but finished the second half of 2011 strong. Andy Reid was given another year.
2012 for the Eagles proved to be exactly what 2020 has been for the Falcons. A complete failure.
How do you allow this to happen to a Chicago team who benches their starting QB, all while entering the game 2-0, and let Nick Foles (who hasn't done anything in the NFL except for as a Philadelphia Eagle) come back and rip your heart out? Did you not learn anything from last week's epic meltdown against the Dallas Cowboys?
It's time to clean house in Atlanta. Dan Quinn, Dirk Koetter and Raheem Morris need to go. Thomas DiMitroff? Possibly. But certainly the coaching staff.
This city deserves better. Falcons fans deserve better. It's time for Arthur Blank to do the obvious thing. The only thing he can at this very moment. Remove the stench of the Dan Quinn staff.
Mercedes Benz Stadium is too gorgeous to endure this garbage.
