What is the cost for the Falcons to draft a QB?

The Athletic’s Dane Brugler stopped by Dukes & Bell to discuss all things NFL Draft. Brugler says despite the depth of this year’s QB class, there might not be a top-tier talent available like Justin Fields when the Falcons pick at No. 4.

“It certainly is a topic that will be debated between now and April 29th because the Falcons are in an interesting situation with a brand new Head Coach and General Manager. You don’t expect to be picking in the Top 5 very often, it’s an opportunity to set yourself and your franchise up for the future. But will the right QB even be there?”

Brugler adds that if the Falcons pick a QB in the first round, it may come with a heavy price tag.

“In my mock draft, I have QBs going at number one, two and three. Justin Fields was not even available at No. 4. I have the Falcons going with the best player available and that is Penei Sewell to sure up the offensive line. Matt Ryan is not going anywhere, at least for another season.”
