The college football season may not yet be under way, but Trevor Lawrence is still managing to create memories at Memorial Stadium.
The Clemson quarterback proposed to his longtime girlfriend, Marissa Mowry, on the middle of the field at the stadium over the weekend.
Lawrence posted the moment on his Instagram page.
The couple have been dating for six years after meeting in high school in Cartersville, Georgia, according to NBC affiliate WYFF.
Mowry, like Lawrence, is also an athlete – a soccer player at Anderson University in Anderson, South Carolina – and is also entering her junior year like Lawrence.
Lawrence, however, likely will not be a college athlete for long.
The 20-year-old phenom is regarded as the top quarterback prospect in college and the upcoming 2021 draft class. Whether or not there is a college football season it is safe to predict that Lawrence will be the No. 1 overall pick in the NFL Draft.
Lawrence has accomplished much in his two years at Clemson, leading the team to a national championship his freshman year and bringing them back again last year, only to fall to LSU – Lawrence’s first and only loss of his collegiate career.
