Just a day after announcing another officer's death from COVID-19, LAPD Chief Michel Moore has now revealed that eight more department employees are now hospitalized with the virus including three who are in "very critical condition."
But he did not offer any further details.
The officer who died Monday, Philip Sudario, had been with the LAPD for 25 years and was the sixth member of the department to be killed by the virus, including sworn officers.
Earlier this month, Sgt. Amelia "Terry" Martinez, who was assigned to the Hollenbeck Division, died of complications from COVID-19. She was 53.
On Twitter, the LAPD shared "Officer Philip Sudario passed away from complications of COVID-19. Phil served Angelenos for 25 years & was last assigned to Southeast Area. Our thoughts & prayers are with his friends and loved ones. Phil, you are End of Watch."
