PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) - Big Ben is going to talk to Pomp tonight.
Talk about a Pittsburgh Power Couple.
This is gigantic.
This is like Iron City and Primanti’s getting together to have talks.
This is like Edgar Snyder andShenderovich, Shenderovich and Fishman all in one room.
Gigantic. Massive. Gargantuan.
Wow. I can’t wait.
And I mean that with 1 billion percent sincerity.
I can’t wait to see what Ben Roethlisberger tells Bob Pompeani on the KDKA-TV evening and then late-night news in a great get for Pomp --- an exclusive one-on-one that any journalist in town would have loved to get.
And it isn’t only what the quarterback will say to the journalist (although that is a decent-sized part) but it will also be about the sure-to-be fallout afterward.
Because, as certain as I am sitting here I can see how this will all go.
Ben Roethlisberger will be asked a question --- maybe even an innocuous one --- by Pompeani and the quarterback will respond with a candid answer. He might then throw in what could be perceived as a dig (and it might come in passive/aggressive form) at Antonio Brown and/or Le’Veon Bell.
Then all hell will break loose.
Most likely it will be Brown who will get wind of the answer and, as he puffs out his big chest on social media, he will be unable to resist firing back at Ben on Instagram.
Or all of them.
Then the national media will --- again --- pick their sides and continue to advance the story forward of a jilted ex-Steeler who either has a valid claim against his old quarterback who didn’t appreciate him or a guy who is allergic to taking any sort of responsibility and doesn’t understand his situation was far better here in Pittsburgh than it ever will be in Oakland. I’m telling you, this is how all of this is set to play out and I cannot wait.
I can’t wait to take it in.
I can’t wait to consume all the follow up and the side-choosing.
I can’t wait to see what will all come about from Ben Roethlisberger doing nothing more than honestly answering a few questions from Pomp.
Here we go.
