PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) - Pittsburgh Pirates Starting Pitcher Chris Archer was removed from the game Tuesday night against the Washington Nationals before the start of the second inning with Right Shoulder Discomfort.
Archer threw a warm-up pitch and immediately started shaking his head like he knew something didn't feel right.
After talking to Catcher Jacob Stallings, Trainer Brian Housand and Manager Clint Hurdle he was removed from the game.
Coming into the game tonight, Archer was making his 23rd start and in his first 22 he was 3-9 with a 5.23 ERA in 118.2 innings pitched. He struck out 141 and walked 55, but had given up 25 home runs.
Over his past few starts, it seemed like Archer was starting to turn a corner which is huge for the Pirates who will already be entering the 2020 season without Starting Pitcher Jameson Taillon in the mix after undergoing his second Tommy John Surgery earlier this month.
