PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - In celebration of Earth Day, Conservation International’s Vice President of Climate Change, Shyla Raghav, joined Corinna Delgado from Washington D.C.’s 94.7 The Driveto discuss how each person can help make the Earth healthier, as well as what the COVID-19 pandemic has taught us about the importance of preparation.

With the world social distancing right now, businesses closed, and millions of people unemployed, Shyla says that we can use this moment to change our way of looking at possible future pandemics, as well as what is happening to our planet.

With a goal to cut emissions by half in 2030, preparations need to begin now by both individuals and by governments across the globe.

In order to do so, Shyla says there needs to be a focus on clean and renewable energy, the need for governments to work together, and the need for protecting our standing forests.

She also mentions the importance of what individuals can do to help make the Earth more green, including taking public transportation, eating a plant-based diet, and planting trees.
