Penguins Players Support Flyer With Rare Cancer

PITTSBURGH (Newsradio 1020 KDKA) - The Penguins and Flyers have one of the most heated rivalries in all of sports but this is bigger than that.

On Friday the Penguins players posed wearing #23 Oskar Strong t-shirts to support Philadelphia winger Oskar Lindblom was diagnosed with a rare form of bone cancer (Ewing sarcoma) in December.

The 23-year-old Swede was the Flyers’ top scorer when he was diagnosed.

He has 11 goals and seven assists on the season. 

He is not expected to play the rest of the season while he undergoes treatments.

The Penguins host the Flyers in the team’s first game since the All-Star break Friday night at PPG Paints Arena.
