The date is significant for the Penguins, as well, as it is captain Sidney Crosby’s 33rd birthday.

Normally a game falling on a player’s birthday is nothing special, but its different with Crosby.

Crosby wears the no. 87 because he was born on Aug. 7, 1987 or 8/7/87, a small hint at how superstitious he can be.

Hockey, a winter sport, is not often played in August, and this will be the first time Crosby will be playing a professional hockey game on his birthday.
