Pirates Hire Don Kelly As Bench Coach

PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) - The Pittsburgh Pirates have announced that Don Kelly will be hired as Bench Coach on Manager Derek Shelton's staff as well as coaches that will be back from last season's staff.

"I am extremely humbled and excited to return to the Pirates as the bench coach. I share the vision and passion that Ben and Derek have for the future of the organization. My family and I could not be more proud to return home to be of this next chapter of Pirates Baseball," said Kelly in a statement.

Kelly was the Houston Astros Bench Coach in 2019.

He played nine season's in the Majors with the Pirates (2007), Tigers (2009-2014) and Marlins (2015-16).

Along with Kelly, the Pirates announced that Rick Eckstein will return as Hitting Coach, Joey Cora as Third Base Coach and Justin Meccage will return in a position that is still to be determined.
