The second phase of the NHL Draft lottery happens Monday evening and the Pittsburgh Penguins have their collective fingers crossed. After being dispatched by the Montreal Canadiens, from the qualifying round of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, the Pens are eyeing the number one spot in the NHL Draft Lottery. If the Pens do get the top pick, it will at least give a slight silver lining after losing to a team that months ago wasn’t even in the playoff picture.  There are eight teams in Phase 2 that will have an even 12.5% chance each to win the No. 1 pick and have the chance to draft the consensus top player in this year's draft class, Alexis Lafrenière. In addition to Pittsburgh, the other contenders for the top draft spot include Edmonton, Florida, Minnesota, Nashville, the New York Rangers, Toronto and Winnipeg. The rest of the top eight is set like this: 1. To be determined2. Los Angeles Kings3. Ottawa Senators (from the San Jose Sharks)4. Detroit Red Wings5. Ottawa Senators6. Anaheim Ducks7. New Jersey Devils8. Buffalo Sabres Picks 9 through 15 will also be determined in Phase 2 of the draft lottery. The rest of the draft order will be based on the outcome of the Stanley Cup Playoffs. Phase 2 of the NHL Draft Lottery takes place at 6 p.m. You can watch on the NHL Network or NBC Sports.
