HARRISBURG (93.7 The Fan) - Professional sports will be allowed to resume in areas in the yellow and green zones in Pennsylvania without fans on-site.

In a release Wednesday PA Governor Tom Wolf’s administration released details on the move.

“Professional sports, defined as any sporting event at which the participants are paid by a league or team, or at which individuals or teams receive prizes or purse, are allowed to practice or play in the yellow and green phases of reopening without on-site or venue spectators if the team (or league on behalf of the team) has developed a COVID-19 safety plan.”

That means locally, the Pirates, Penguins and Steelers can resume practices and games.

Plans must be approved by the PA Health Department and safety requirements also including, testing or screening along with monitoring all players and personnel.

Pro sports organizations are being encouraged to contact the Wolf Administration to share their reopening plans to get them approved by the Department of Health.
