Pirates Outfielder Gregory Polanco Diagnosed With COVID-19

PITTSBURGH - Pirates outfielder Gregory Polanco has been diagnosed with COVID-19.

Manager Derek Shelton confirmed the news on Friday.

Polanco gave permission to share the diagnosis.

Shelton says Polanco protected his teammates by going into quarantine.

The Pirates are set to travel to Cleveland to take on the Indians for three exhibition games. Games will be played every other day beginning Saturday and can be heard on The Fan. Games start at 7:05 p.m.

The Pirates kick off the 60-game regular season next Friday in St. Louis against the Cardinals. Firsts pitch is 8:15 p.m.
