Fan Pirates Insider Jason Mackey of the Post-Gazette talked to Bucs General Manager Ben Cherington Monday and he told reports what they want in a catcher.

"We certainly take into consideration someone who we feel will really prioritize the pitcher and the defensive aspect of the game. ... Helps if they can contribute offensively, too. But we can’t get everything we want."

Cherington also says that it would “be foolish” not to listen to offers from everyone.

Finished our session with Ben Cherington. Said they're basically listening on everyone; would be foolish not to. Acknowledged it makes more sense to trade some versus others.
