Riverhounds Defeat Dayton Dutch Lions 3-0

PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) -  The Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC hosted the Dayton Dutch Lions in the second round of the U.S. Open Cup on Tuesday night at Highmark Stadium.

The match would remain scoreless into the 2nd half until Neco Brett converted a penalty kick in the 57th minute to put Pittsburgh up 1-0.  Brett would add a second goal for a brace 12 minutes later to put the Riverhounds up by 2.

Anthony Velarde would add some insurance for the home team as he found the back of the net in extra time to close out the scoring in the 3-0 victory for the Riverhounds.

The last victory for the Riverhounds in the U.S Open Cup before tonight was 1,448 days ago against Tampa Bay on May 27, 2015.

The Riverhounds will host the winner of the match between the Indy Elven and Lansing Ignite FC at 7 pm on May 29 at Highmark Stadium in the third round of the U.S Open Cup.

Pittsburgh returns to the USL Championship schedule this Saturday May 18 when they travel to Memphis, Tennessee to face Memphis 901 F.C at 8 pm. The game will be shown on Pittsburgh's CW.
