According to NFL Network, Patriots star cornerback Stephon Gilmore has tested positive for the coronavirus. The positive test apparently came on Tuesday.
This comes just five days after New England quarterback Cam Newton tested positive and was placed on the COVID-19 reserve list last Saturday. Patriots practice squad defensive lineman Bill Murray was placed on the COVID-19 reserve list for New England on Tuesday.
Gilmore’s positive test is the first since the team traveled to Kansas City on Monday night to play the Chiefs, a game that had been originally scheduled for Sunday. The game was delay and the Patriots travel adjusted due to Newton’s positive test.
Gilmore was a part of the travel party to Kansas City and played all 56 defensive snaps against the Chiefs.
According to NFL Network’s report, the Patriots have now canceled their practice for Wednesday as the team prepares for next Sunday’s game against the Broncos at Gillette Stadium.
