Tiger Woods recently went back under the knife again.

The 45-year-old golfer announced on Tuesday via Twitter that he underwent a microdiscectomy procedure to remove a pressurized disc fragment that was pinching a nerve in his back.

Woods will miss the first two months of the 2021 season – which includes the Farmers Insurance Open and Genesis Invitational. He will still attend that latter as the tournament host, though.

Per Golf Digest, Woods hopes to return in time to play in The Masters, which begins on April 8.

Woods first felt the pain in his back that led to the surgery following the PNC Championship in December.

It marks the fifth operation the 15-time major champion has undergone on his back since April 2017 when he underwent a spinal-fusion surgery

Woods’ health, particularly his back issues, have plagued him for most of the last decade, playing in just one PGA Tour Even between August 2015 and December 2017.

Woods played in just nine tour events last year and sat out the Players Championship to rest his back.
