Celtics Give Outgoing Assistant Coach a Touching Sendoff

By WEEI 93.7

For one moment everybody on the Celtics was a fan of Duke. They had the t-shirts to prove it.

In a touching tribute, the entire group of Celtics who are preparing for the rebooted 2019-20 season in Orlando all donned "Duke" t-shirts out of respect to assistant coach Kara Lawson, who is headed to become the head women's basketball coach at the university.

The 39-year-old Lawson joined the Celtics in June 2019, having most recently made her mark as a national broadcaster. She began her broadcasting career in 2015 after retiring from the WNBA. As a player, Lawson won a Gold Medal in the 2008 Summer Olympics, having starred for Pat Summit's Tennessee team from 1999-2003.
