The NBA playoffs are set to get back underway, but it wasn't until players' voices were heard that the NBA was ready to move forward.

On Friday, the NBA and the NBPA released a joint statement detailing the resumption of play, the league's increased commitment to social justice through a coalition, and the attention that basketball will give to voting in upcoming elections.

The full statement can be seen below.

Thus, action will get back underway on Saturday, August 29, confirming initial reports that the playoffs would be resumed. Play has been suspended ever since the Milwaukee Bucks decided to take it upon themselves, as a team, and boycott their playoff game in a courageous and inspiring act.

Commissioner Adam Silver also issued a letter to league employees on Friday, saying that he "wholeheartedly support(s) NBA and WNBA players and their commitment to shining a light on important issues of social justice." He heard several people's thoughts regarding the need for professional sports leagues to take action and he followed through.

Like Silver and the terms of the NBA-NBPA joint statement, LeBron James has been as vocal a presence as possible in encouraging others to vote, get involved and pave the way for change.

No set schedule for the resumption of play has been released to this point.
