Champagnie returns from knee injury against Syracuse

Sophomore out since the Louisville game

PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) – Three days before Christmas, we learned that Justin Champagnie would be out ‘6-8 weeks’ with a knee injury suffered in practice.

Much like his game on the court, Champagnie also heals better than most as the Panthers star sophomore forward returned to the starting lineup January 16 hosting Syracuse.

The Brooklyn native is the second in Division 1 basketball in rebounding at 12.3 a game, leading the ACC.  Champagnie is also Pitt’s leading scorer at 17.8 per game.

The timing worked out well as Pitt indefinitely suspended forward John Hugley on Friday.  The freshman was the Panthers third best rebounder.
