Due to the COVID-19 pandemic the basketball Backyard Brawl won’t happen this season.

West Virginia basketball coach Bob Huggins said during a preseason press conference that they won’t be playing Pitt.

The number of games to be played this upcoming season is being reduced due to the pandemic.

Huggins says they had a non-conference schedule but that was wiped away and they are now trying to build a new one, with reduced games.

The Big 12 is still working on its conference schedule and should be done by the end of the month.

The NCAA has barred exhibition games and prohibited closed scrimmages this season.
