Justin Champagnie Shares Thoughts On Dominating Duke, ACC POY Candidacy

Champagnie Uses Doubters As Motivation For The Huge Season He's Having

PITTSBURGH (93.7 The FAN) - 31 points and 17 rebounds against Duke on national television gets the attention of a lot of people, and that's exactly what Pitt star Justin Champagnie did Tuesday night for the Pitt Panthers.

Justin joined The PM Team and talked first about the endorsement he got from Coach K in last night's postgame when he said Champagnie is a potential ACC Player of the Year.

Justin said those words gave him a "heart warming feeling" and it means a lot to hear it from someone like Coach K.

Justin has taken his game from a high level last year to an elite level this year and credits his coaches and the program for always pushing him to be better, to the point one of the managers already texted him today that he "could have had two more rebounds last night if he just boxed out" last night.

Justin's main motivation though is that his whole life, people told him he wasn't good enough to play basketball, including when he committed to Pitt and people said he couldn't hang in the ACC.

As for when he started to believe he could dominate the ACC, Justin tells us that it was after the Wake Forest game last year where he first felt like he could do something special here.

Asked if he has started to think about the pros, Justin says he believes in himself and believes that one day that will all come true for him, but during the season, his focus is entirely on the team and winning at Pitt.
