Pitt Athletics recently brought back the classic blue and gold color scheme to its uniforms with much approval from long-time Panther faithful, but this Saturday, the football team will debut something completely new against Louisville.

The university says their new alternate unis are inspired by the City of Pittsburgh and Pitt’s campus.

The silver uniforms feature a steelworker on the upper left of the uniform, meant to honor Pitt grad and famous metal worker Samuel Yellin, and “H2P”, which stands for Hail to Pitt, based off the U.S. Steel logo is on the shoulder.

The Panther’s helmet is completely different. It’s all silver with the outline of the Panther mascot on the sides.
