Pirates claim Sean Poppen from Twins

JT Riddle was designated for assignment in the corresponding roster move

PITTSBURGH (93.7 The Fan) — The Pittsburgh Pirates made a roster move on Thursday.

The club claimed right-handed pitcher (RHP) Sean Poppen off the waiver wire.

Poppen is coming over from the Minnesota Twins.

Poppen appeared six times with the Twins this year and had spent his 2019 in Minnesota, as well.

He only had four showings last year, though.

Poppen was originally selected in the 19th round of the 2016 First-Year Player Draft after going to school at Harvard.

To make room for Poppen, the Pirates designated infielder/outfielder JT Riddle for assignment.
