Williamson: Nearly 10 days off has not been a bye for Steelers

They may be physically rested, but haven't been able to relax mentally

How confident is Steelers linebacker Avery Williamson that the Steelers will actually play the Ravens on Wednesday? On a scale of 1 to 10 he says about a 5.

“With all the stuff that’s happened man . . . I really don’t know, just waiting,” Williamson told the PM Team on Tuesday.

Williamson says, just like everyone else, he is waiting for NFL Insider Adam Schefter for the latest news.

Williamson adds that the game was delayed from Tuesday to Wednesday after another positive test on the team, but that player is on the IR and hasn’t been around the team for some time now.

While he still gets upset about all the game postponements, Williamson says he knows the coronavirus affects everyone differently and doesn’t want the players to spread it to their families or the Steelers.

Williamson admits staying focused on the game has proven difficult at times, “but just trying to look at something every day, when I get back to the house I’m going to look at something and look at a game and just keep my mind on it, look at the plays.”

While the Steelers haven’t played in over a week, it hasn’t felt like a bye week.

“Mentally I wasn’t able to relax . . . you could relax making a little bit but you couldn’t fully relax because you’re worried about the game, trying to get ready and then they move it again,” said Williamson.
