Summer is here (ish) and even though there are a lot of things we love to do that we can't do this year, berry-picking is still doable, relatively safe, and a great way to get out of the house with the family. Plus, berries!
Any direction you go around here, there are u-pick farms where you can fill a bucket with strawberries, blueberries, raspberries or blackberries. Oh, and don't forget tayberries.
From Biringer Farms in Arlington to Remlinger Farms in Carnation (a favorite in my family) to Picha's in Puyallup and Tacoma, everything you need to know about where and when to pick is right here: Berry-Pickin’ Good: 20 U-Pick Berry Farms Around Seattle, the Eastside and South Sound. The original story from ParentMap.com appeared a couple of years before the pandemic, so obviously there are a few extra rules to follow about social distancing, mask-wearing, and in some cases no cash transactions. Each farm's website tells you what you need to know.
Hit up this page and start scrolling through the options. You'll find a farm that's an easy drive from wherever you are, you'll get some fresh air in a relatively safe environment, and you'll be able to savor one of the true pleasures of summer in the Northwest.
Happy picking!
