Sixers center Joel Embiid left the team’s game on Sunday against the Portland Trail Blazers with an apparent injury to his left ankle. We will hopefully receive an update at some point on Monday.
Embiid’s injury seemed to occur with just under seven minutes to play in the first quarter when he came down awkwardly trying to block a shot.
With Embiid out the team is now without their two best players, as Ben Simmons is likely out the rest of the season due to a knee injury.
Embiid, 26, has dealt with multiple injuries throughout his young NBA career. This season he is averaging 23.5 points, 11.8 rebounds, 3.1 assists, and 1.9 blocks while playing 30 minutes per game. The Sixers' playoff hopes would all but be destroyed if their three-time All-Star center were to miss significant time.
More details to come.
