The Eagles are expected to be very active and consider all options in the cornerback free agency market this offseason.
Norman, 32-years old, used to be one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL. A switch from Carolina to Washington, however, dealt a major blow to his career as he has struggled to be anywhere near the elite player he was with the Panthers. Norman played 58 games in Washington, totaling seven interceptions, 43 pass deflections and 235 total tackles.
Although those numbers aren’t terrible, they don’t paint the full picture of Norman’s struggles in Washington, as he was benched and ended up being a healthy scratch at times. Pro Football Focus graded him as having the second-worst season of his career last season in coverage, allowing a passer rating of 96.4 when targeted.
For the Eagles, any decision to bring in Norman would be made hoping that a change of scenery could return him to the player he was in Carolina. Both of the Eagles starting cornerbacks from last season, Jalen Mills and Ronald Darby, are free agents. It is possible the Eagles could be looking for two new starters, so even if they use a high draft pick on a cornerback, having a veteran like Norman around could have some benefits.
Still, if the Eagles are going to bring in a veteran player, it is hard to imagine they would pick Norman considering his age and likely desire to be a full-time starter on his next team.
