Doc Rivers has "emerged as a serious candidate"

It's been three and a half weeks since the Sixers were swept by the Celtics and head coach Brett Brown was fired on August 24th.

Doc Rivers has reportedly "emerged as a serious candidate" and the Sixers will be choosing between Rivers and Mike D'Antoni.

Wednesday, September 30th

Sixers reportedly met with Doc Rivers and watched Game 1 of the NBA Finals with him.

Tuesday, September 29th

On Tuesday, Adrian Wojnarowski joined Get Up! and reported that Ty Lue is "at the top of the list right now" in the Clippers coaching search. This comes a day after Doc Rivers was fired.

Monday, September 28th

The Los Angeles Clippers fire head coach Doc Rivers, who has already reportedly received interest from the Sixers.

Wednesday, September 23rd

"League sources believe Rockets GM Daryl Morey could soon be in the market for another job," and the Sixers could be interested.

Wednesday, September 23rd

The Sixers are reportedly open to making trades if they hire Mike D'Antoni as head coach. Ty Lue and Mike D'Antoni remain the top candidates.

Billy Donovan agrees to a deal to become the next head coach of the Chicago Bulls.

Monday, September 21st

The Athletic's Shams Charania confirms Sixers' short list of candidates include Billy Donovan, Mike D'Antoni, and Tyronn Lue.

Thursday, September 17th

Keith Pompey reports the Sixers will attempt to inquire about Houston Rockets' GM Daryl Morey and Indiana Pacers president of basketball operations Kevin Pritchard. There is not much optimism, however, that either candidate would be interested.

Pompey also added that multiple sources believe Alex Rucker, the executive vice president of basketball operations, will not return next season.

Keith Pompey reports the Sixers are "eyeing" Mike D'Antoni and he is the favorite to become the next Sixers' head coach.

Pompey adds the Sixers are expected to also interview Tyronn Lue and Billy Donovan this week.

Tryonn Lue (assistant) and the Los Angeles Clippers eliminated by the Denver Nuggets in the second-round of the Western Conference Finals.

Sunday, September 13th

Mike D'Antoni fired by the Houston Rockets after being eliminated in the Western Conference semi-finals by the LA Lakers.

Tuesday, September 8th

Oklahoma City Thunder announce they have parted ways with head coach Billy Donovan after being eliminated by the Houston Rockets in the first-round of the playoffs.

Thursday, September 3rd

Multiple reports indicated that Tyronn Lue was the favorite to become the next Sixers' head coach.

Wednesday, September 2nd

Jay Wright announces he is staying at Villanova and he is not a candidate for the Sixers' job.

Monday, August 31st

Dawn Staley throws her name into the ring for the Sixers' job, but nothing since has indicated that Staley is an option for Philadelphia.

Monday, August 24th

Sixers fire Brett Brown and also announce while Elton Brand will continue as general manager of the team, changes to the front office are necessary.
