The 2020 Philadelphia Eagles are off to the worst kind of start. Not only are they 0-1 after blowing a 17-0 lead in Week 1 against Washington, but they're injured, extremely injured.
Head coach Doug Pederson provided the media with injury updates on Monday afternoon. Here's the rundown.
DL Vinny Curry: Expected to miss 4 week with a hamstring injury, per Tom Pelissero.
DE Brandon Graham: Concussion protocol
CB Craig James: "Significant" injury, expected to miss time
Missed Week 1: DL Derek Barnett, DL Javon Hargrave, OL Lane Johnson, RB Miles Sanders.
When asked about Johnson (ankle), Barnett (hamstring), and Sanders (hamstring) specifically, Pederson said:
“We are going to increase their practice time this week. We are going to see as the week goes on where they are, and hopefully they will be available for the game on Sunday. But it is kind of day-by-day with those guys.”
The first real clue as to how close Johnson and Sanders are will come this Wednesday when the team has to issue an injury report following their first practice of the week.
If Johnson can’t play it is likely the Eagles will start Jack Driscoll at right tackle again.
Add everything up, and the Eagles enter Week 2 with eight players currently dealing with injuries, and two new roster spots likely about to open up to fill.
