Another day, another report surrounding the protracted free agency of one Bryce Harper. A day after SNY’s Andy Martino tweeted that Harper is “unsure” of signing up with the Phillies, he sent out the following scrap:

It’s unclear how big a contract Giants will/have offered to Bryce Harper, but hearing a continued sense today that they have a shot at him and Phillies have a tough road to get it done

This latest report certainly looks like the kind of leak that would help super agent Scott Boras, Harper’s rep, in an attempt to put pressure on the Phillies.

In the wake of Manny Machado’s reported 10-year, $300 million agreement with the Padres, Farhan Zaidi, Giants president of baseball ops, suggested that megadeal would affect the club’s approach to Harper.

"I don't think it really changes how we're viewing our team and what we might still do to it, especially when you start talking about the context of a move that might not be just about 2019, but might be a move that impacts your roster five years or 10 years out," Zaidi said, per Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area.

"You want to make sure you're making the right decision for your organization and not doing it in a reactionary way."
