Kittle’s status for Packers showdown expected to ‘come down to the wire’

The status  of George Kittle, absent from the 49ers lineup for the past two games, is once again very much up in the air as the Packers come to town for Sunday Night Football.

When asked for an update on the the game-changing tight end after practice on Wednesday, head coach Kyle Shanahan offfered the following.

“Better than last week, but not good enough to practice today," Shanahan said. "It’s going to come down to the wire again and hopefully it will work out.”

The current injury report is packed.

Earlier in the day, Kyle Juszczyk, the three-time pro bowl fullback, spoke glowingly of Kittle, but didn’t exactly sound like he was expecting to see him return against Green Bay.
