BUREAU COUNTY, Ill. (KFTK) — Illinois authorities seized about 600 pounds of marijuana during a routine traffic stop last week.

Illinois State Police say a trooper pulled over a motor home driving on Interstate-80, about 55 miles north of Peoria, Ill. on Jan. 7. The trooper requested for a K9 unit to assist after "numerous indicators of criminal activity were observed."

A free-air sniff performed by the K9 officer discovered the presence of illegal drugs inside the motor home, then ISP troopers found multiple duffel bags containing marijuana, totaling about 600 pounds.

The driver, 34-year-old Colt French, and his passenger, 59-year-old Rory French, both of California were arrested.

Both men were charged with unlawful possession of cannabis with intent to deliver and lodged in the Bureau County Jail on $300,000 bond.
