ST. LOUIS (KFTK) - The 34th annual boxing showdown known as Budweiser Guns 'N Hoses is being postponed to 2021. It's usually held the night before Thanksgiving, and although the event already had social distancing requirements in place, there's been a recent surge in COVID-19 cases.

"Out of respect for all those involved, I believe it's the right thing to do," said Steve Holley, executive director of the Guns 'N Hoses Boxing Association.

"The health and welfare of our fighters, sponsors, as well as event staff, are our highest priority," said David Stokes, president of Grey Eagle Distributors. "For the past several weeks, we have been closely monitoring the COVID-19 situation with partners and city officials and came to the decision this was the best for all involved."

A 2021 date hasn't been announced yet.

This year's event was scheduled to be broadcast live on FOX 2, no tickets were sold and there was restricted seating.
