Jim Harbaugh does things his own way. Some people appreciate it. Others not so much.
Place 2017 five-star OL Isaiah Wilson in the latter camp.
“Remember when they first got the deal with Jordan? He just wouldn’t take off his cleats," Wilson said. "Like, he came to my in-home visit with cleats on his feet. And I have hardwood floors. He’s just walking around with cleats, bro.”
Wilson said he and his mom were immediately thrown off.
"My mom was 38-hot. She was like, 'Why this man ain’t take off his shoes?'" he said.
After that, Wilson took Michigan off his list. He wound up at Georgia and was eventually selected by the Titans in the first round of this year's draft.
Harbaugh wasn't the only coach Wilson spurned. He was originally committed to Alabama, then backed out because “Nick Saban didn't give me a hug.”
“I care about the little things," he said.
Sure, let's call it that.
As it was, Michigan's 2017 recruiting class ranked No. 5 in the country. And while it failed to meet expectations, it did include a future first-round OL in Cesar Ruiz.
