Tigers Place Cron On Injured List, Bring Up Willi Castro

The Tigers placed 1B C.J. Cron on the 10-day injured list Tuesday after he took a line drive to the knee in Monday night's win over the White Sox. 

SS Willi Castro was called up from the taxi squad in a corresponding move. 

The Tigers today have placed 1B C.J. Cron on the 10-day injured list with a left knee sprain. In a corresponding move, INF Willi Castro has been recalled from the club's alternate training site.

Detroit will feel Cron's absence in the lineup. Though he's hitting just .190 through 13 games, he has four homers and an OPS close to .900.

The play on which Cron was injured featured a diving tag by pitcher Daniel Norris to record an out at first base.

Castro, 23, is the seventh-ranked prospect in Detroit's system, according to MLB Pipeline. He hit .230 over 30 games with the Tigers at the end of last season.
