The Tigers are going to the World Series! These are words we've been waiting to hear again since 2012. And we'll probably have to wait a few more years yet, with the organization's rebuild only just starting to reach the major league level.
According to one writer from MLB.com, who predicted the outcome of each of the next 10 World Series, the Tigers will be back in the Fall Classic in 2028.
Here's the catch -- they lose to the Dodgers:
"There’s no doubt (the Dodgers) be good every year this decade," writes Will Leitch. "We don’t know many players who will for sure still be on the roster by then, but we know Mookie Betts will, which means they’ll be a force to be reckoned with. The Tigers are too proud a franchise who will have turned it around by this point behind all the young pitching they are cultivating now."
So, World Series appearance, 2028. Would you sign up for this as a fan? Or do you expect the rebuild to come to fruition sooner?
