More Giants coaching changes could be on the way following the ouster of offensive line coach Mark Colombo.

According to CBS Sports’ Jason La Canfora, Giants offensive coordinator Jason Garrett has been under scrutiny and a change at that staff position is a “very real possibility” in 2021.

Garrett, who spent 10 years as head coach of the Dallas Cowboys before he was fired last season, has overseen a Giants offense that ranks 30th in the league in points per game. Second-year quarterback Daniel Jones also has not appeared to make any significant improvement from his rookie season, although has looked better in recent weeks, cutting down on his turnovers.

The development of Jones is likely the top priority for a franchise that has been in the doldrums the past few seasons and with many coordinators and assistant coaches expected to be available on the open market this offseason, it could open the door for Judge to welcome more changes to his staff.

Meanwhile, SI’s Michael Silver reported last week that there are some on Judge’s staff who have grown weary of his personality and “alarming aura of haughtiness.”

Colombo, who was a part of Garrett’s staff in Dallas, had been seething for weeks prior to his firing, per La Canfora. Judge had reportedly been spending more time working with the offensive line and was clashing with Colombo over different approaches.

Things reached a breaking point when Judge decided to bring in Dave DeGuglielmo to the offensive staff as a consultant, angering Colombo to the point where the two had a verbal blow-up within earshot of the players last week.

Team security, not Judge, informed Colombo he was fired in a decision made to avoid any physical altercation.

The Giants, meanwhile, are coming off a bye week and are still in position to win the NFC East despite being 3-7. How Garrett and the offense perform over the course of the next six weeks could go a long way in determining what is to come for the 2021 staff.
