Last year, the Buccaneers were 7-9 and weren't anywhere close to being considered among the top teams in the NFL.
A year later, they are in the Super Bowl and a major reason being the addition of Tom Brady.
Although the QB threw three second half interceptions, he did throw for 280 yards and three touchdowns in the 31-26 win over the Packers in the NFC Championship Game.
“It’s been a great journey thus far and we put the work in and a lot of guys just embraced everything that — really when BA [Bruce Arians] got here last year, there was a lot of great things that were happening," Brady said via Zoom after the win. "A lot of great young players and a made the decision and love coming to work every day with this group of guys. [We] worked really hard to get to this point and it was a tough game. We’ve had a few tough games in a row and the next one will be really tough, too. But, we know what we’re playing for and we’ve got two weeks to prepare. It’s going to be a great opponent and will be a really exciting couple of weeks for us.”
Many players, as well as Arians, have been on record the last several weeks saying what a difference Brady has made to the team in a number of different ways.
Now, Tampa Bay will be the first time to play a Super Bowl in its home stadium.
“This is the ultimate team sport and we’ve had a lot of people work really hard over a course of a period of time to get to this point, so it’s a tough journey to get here," Brady said. "To go on the road and win another road playoff game is just a great achievement and now a home Super Bowl for the first time in NFL history. I think [it] puts a lot of cool things in perspective any time it’s the first time doing something. It’s usually a pretty cool thing. Now we just have to go have a great two weeks to proper for whoever it is and be ready to go.”
This will be Brady's 10th Super Bowl.
