Yesterday an Arlington corporal and a trucker combined forces to save a teenager's life.

It happened on I-20 and the Kelly Elliott bridge. Corporal Deric Sheriff was called to the scene with reports of a possible jumper. Moments later, he had a brilliant idea. He flagged down Dwayne Crawford, a semi-truck driver who was willing to help. Sheriff asked Crawford if he would park his 18-wheeler under the bridge to break the boy's fall. Just as Crawford eased up to the target, the teen jumped and landed on the big rig. NBC DFW has video of the quick-thinking officer and good samaritan.

If you or someone you know needs help, the National Suicide Prevention Lifeline is available for free 24/7. The number is 1.800.273.8255.
