Following a horrific bike crash that nearly left Simon Cowell paralyzed, the star is now walking at least 10,000 steps every day to help his body recover from the injuries.
According to a source close to the star, Cowell has been out of his brace. "Simon's having little or no visitors due to COVID, but he's doing 10,000 steps a day and swimming regularly," the source told Page Six.
Cowell has been resting in his home alongside girlfriend Lauren Silverman.
According to friend and "Britain's Got Talent" co-star Amanda Holden, Cowell has been receiving around-the-clock care and keeping in touch with friends over the phone.
"He's doing well. I keep in touch with Lauren every week," Holden said. "His will and determination to get himself better is inspiring."
When Cowell endured the bike crash in August, he suffered breaks in three places in his back, even coming within an inch of cutting his spine and potentially suffering paralysis. He was tooling around with a $20,000 high-powered e-bike outside of his Malibu compound at the time.
After his six-hour surgery to remedy his back and put him on the path to healing properly, Cowell tweeted, "Some good advice ... if you buy an electric trail bike, read the manual before you ride it for the first time."
Doctors have told Cowell that it is too early to return to work, leaving him out of recent episodes of both "America's Got Talent" and "Britain's Got Talent."
