Fans of the the comedy hit “Wedding Crashers” may have something to toast in the near future.
While promoting their latest movie “Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga,” Will Ferrell and Rachel McAdams opened up about the possibility of teaming up again on a sequel to the 2005 film.
"Wedding Crashers 2, yeah. I think we can just say it's being written," Ferrell told E! News.
Although Ferrell only had a small role in the blockbuster romcom, McAdams said she would be interested in rejoining her co-stars Owen Wilson and Vince Vaughn in a new installment.
"I got to work with Owen again on “Midnight in Paris,” so that was super fun," McAdams said. "And I worked with Vince again on “True Detective,” now I'm just remembering it. But those were very different. So yeah, it'd be nice to go back and have a romp."
Although Ferrell didn’t divulge details of what the sequel might be about, he joked that divorce could take center stage.
"How about if it's just the lawyers representing everyone in divorce court? Wedding Crashers 2," he added. "And just make it like a legal courtroom drama, not funny at all."
Released 15 years ago, “Wedding Crashers” earned over $285 million at the global box office. In addition to McAdams, Ferrell, Willson and Vaughn, the comedy featured Bradley Cooper, Isla Fisher and Christopher Walken.
Interestingly, McAdams and Ferrell never got to work together during filming.
"Will and I actually never met on that film, because he was doing a cameo…we were like ships passing," McAdams recounted. "I was always just so wishing another opportunity would come along, where we'd actually be in the same scene together."
Regardless if a sequel ever materializes, McAdams finally got her wish as the pair co-star as Icelandic singers in “Eurovision Song Contest: The Story of Fire Saga.”
The Netflix film, which was also directed by “Wedding Crashers” director David Dobkin, starts streaming on June 26.
