Gov. Gavin Newsom on Monday announced the regional stay-at-home orders were lifted for regions including the Southern California region, Bay Area and San Joaquin Valley.
The counties will revert back to the tier, color-coded system. The majority of the counties are in the strictest, or purple tier, according to the California Department of Health.
If counties are in the purple, or widespread tier, that means outdoor dining at restaurants can reopen and indoor nail and hair salons can reopen with modifications including limited capacity and 100 percent masking - even as that decision is dependent on individual counties and their public health departments.
During the same press conference, Newsom announced a pilot phase called "My Turn" launching in LA County and San Diego County "where you can find out if it's your turn to get vaccinated and schedule vaccination appointments. If it isn't your turn yet, you can register to be notified when you become eligible."
Newsom stressed it's a pilot phase. He said it's not just a notification or reservation system but "an end to end system across the spectrum, bottom up top down, providers, whole spectrum of delivery system and a database that allows more immediate data to be transferred to the CDC.'
He said there is a pilot program in LA County allowing individuals 65 and older to start making appointments for those clinics who have signed up and come into the pilot program.
He said Californians can sign up to get notified via text or email when it's their turn. You can schedule an appointment when it's your turn.
